It isn’t an exaggeration to say that Marbella’s Starlite Catalan Occidente Music Festival has something for everyone. With more than 60 days of concerts including rock, pop, contemporary and alternative music it is certainly for all tastes. Celebrating its 12th anniversary, Starlite will welcome stars like UB40, Take That, Van Morrison, Simple Minds and Tom Jones. Meanwhile, local musicians also feature and performers from Mexico and Lebanon.

Starlite will soon welcome patrons to Nagüeles Quarry for the Starlite Catalan Occidente Music Festival in Marbella. Meanwhile, Starlite will present several UK musicians, including UB40, Van Morrison, Take That, Simple Minds and Tom Jones. Others among the top names of the music scene include Spanish artists like Pablo Lopez, Ricky Martin, Luis Miguel, Malu and La Oreja de Van Gogh. Moreover, Mexican singer Lila Downs will star and Lebanese violin virtuoso Ara Malikian who has often played at festivals in Malaga Province.

Starlite will offer a range of music genres, including rock, pop, contemporary and alternative music in an ongoing event from Friday, June 14 through Saturday, August 31. With the popular festival running for 60 concerts, this makes the event perfect for those travelers visiting the Costa del Sol this summer. In fact, Starlite Catalan Occidente Music Festival has established itself as one of the longest-running festivals ever.

The Art of Flamenco

For those who love flamenco, the stage at the Nagüeles quarry will also host esteemed artists, including singer Miguel Poveda and dancer Sara Baras. Moreover, the Gypsy Kings, featuring Nicolas Reyes) will be there. The flamenco-fusion group helped to promote the genre throughout the world back in the 1980s.

UK and Irish music acts at Starlite music event

Other acts lined up during the event will include the UK’s most influential bands and singera of the last 60 years.

The festival will kick off on June 14 with a concert featuring UK jazz/pop singer and pianist, Jamie Cullem, who has sold over 10 million albums worldwide. Cullem is followed by veteran rocker Van Morrison on June 15, whose career spans seven decades.

Other big name performers at the Starlite Catalan Occidente Music Festival are as follows:

Irish band The Corres (July 10) – fusion of folk, rock and Celtic

Scottish band Simple Minds (July 22) – playing 80s hits like Promised You a Miracle and Don’t You Forget About Me.

UB40 with Ali Campbell (August 9) – reggae style.

Boy band Take That (July 14 & 15) as part of their Life Under the Stars European tour – playing hits like A Million Love Songs and Everything Changes.

Sheryl Crow (June 21) – playing popular hits like All I Wanna Do and Every Day is a Winding Road

Veteran Welsh singer Tom Jones (July 23) who returns to Starlite with his golden hits and recent material.

Puerto Rican rapper Myke Towers (July 3) – Latin rapper and reggaeton artist.
