Atlas Ocean Voyages recently welcomed its newest yacht in a naming ceremony in Ushuaia, Argentina and christened it World Voyager. The 198-guest vessel joins the cruise line’s expedition fleet and is ready to start its first deployment for the 2023-24 Antarctica season. This is excellent news for those seeking adventure on the waves.

At a ceremony in Ushuaia, Argentina, James A. Rodriguez the President and CEO of the cruise line said:

Today marks another important milestone for Atlas Ocean Voyages as our fleet grows to a trio, delivering year-round polar, epicurean and cultural expedition experiences across the globe.

 Thank you to Godmother Preet Kaur Chandi for inspiring all of us and the entire Atlas team that continues to execute our vision of year-round expedition yachting.

Rodriguez presided over the shipboard ceremony and introduced World Voyager’s officers and crew, including Captain Terje Ulset. Once the ceremony was done, the yacht headed out on its maiden voyage, a nine-day Antarctic Discovery cruise.

World Voyager joins World Traveler and World Navigator

Altas Ocean Voyages new ship, World Voyager, joins the cruise line’s other two luxury yachts. As with World Traveler and World Navigator, the ship will launch nine- to 14-night round-trip expeditions to Antarctica from Ushuaia, Argentina. Moreover, the cruise includes a hotel stay in Buenos Aires, as well as a roundtrip charter air service from there to Ushuaia.

Each expedition includes a free cultural immersion tour, landings ashore, Zodiac experiences, as well as all-inclusive onboard amenities. As an optional extra, guests can enjoy kayaking and camping activities.

Atlas’ new ship, World Voyager, is among the safest and most advanced expedition yachts. The vessel is a Polar Category C- and Ice Class 1B-certified yacht powered by two Rolls Royce hybrid diesel/electric engines. Moreover, the yacht also features 3D forward-looking sonar technology to detect underwater obstacles, hazards and shallows.

Dining can be enjoyed in the main dining room, Madeira, named as a homage to the Portuguese archipelago. Dining is also available at the 7-Aft Grill and Paula’s Pantry. Moreover, the ship features a lecture hall where guests can enjoy illustrated enrichment talks. The hall has been named Amerigo Vespucci Auditorium after the famous explorer. Meanwhile, guests can relax in the Atlas Lounge, a forward-facing observation Lounge and The Dome observation lounge.
