Celebrity Cruises Takes Delivery Of Celebrity Ascent To Its Edge Series

Exciting news for fans of Celebrity Cruises, as the cruise line takes delivery of its latest ship, Celebrity Ascent. The ceremony was held at Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in St. Nazaire, France. Meanwhile, its inaugural sailing is planned for December 3, 2023. Read on to find out more about the new ship’s itinerary and what it has to offer its guests.

Celebrity Cruises takes delivery of Celebrity Ascent

The fourth in Celebrity Cruises’ Edge Series, the Celebrity Ascent’s first sailing will be a seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise, stopping over at St. Thomas, St. Maarten, and other popular islands.

The delivery ceremony was held this week at Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard where it included a number of centuries-old traditions. Among these was a signing ceremony, and a changing of the flags onboard the ship. Meanwhile, the ceremony saw 1,400 crew members, along with key leaders from the Royal Caribbean Group, Celebrity Cruises and Chantiers de l’Atlantique. Meanwhile, the brother captains, Dimitrios Kafetzis and Tasos Kafetzis, were there, marking the first time two brothers have captained a cruise ship.

About the new ship

As fourth in the cruise line’s Edge Series, Celebrity Ascent will offer several staples. These will include options like The Retreat, a resort within a resort concept. The new ship will also offer an expanded Resort Deck and Rooftop Garden, a multi-level Sunset Bar and a new outdoor dining terrace, Blu. It will offer expanded onboard entertainment, as well as a redesigned dining concept, Le Voyage by Chef Daniel Boulud, and the Magic Carpet. In fact, the ship will offer 32 distinct restaurants, bars, and lounges for guests to enjoy.

When it comes to accommodations, these range from the Edge Single Staterooms for solo travelers, which have doubled in number, and the luxurious Retreat offering a luxurious experience. Moreover, almost every stateroom and suite on Celebrity Ascent features a king-size bed and bespoke bedding and mattresses.

As with others in the Edge series, in-room automation lets guests adjust everything from the lighting to the shades and air conditioning at the tap of a screen. Naturally, guests will have access to the ship’s Spa and Fitness Center during their cruise. Moreover, the ship offers a comfortable accessible onboard stay

Where will the Celebrity Ascent sail?

Meanwhile, Celebrity Ascent will first offer itineraries in the Eastern and Western Caribbean, through late April 2024. It will then be heading to the Mediterranean with sailings departing from Rome and Barcelona.

Speaking at the ceremony, General Director Laurent Castaing of Chantiers de l’Atlantique said in a statement:
