This will soon be a thing of the past as Joby Aviation partners with Uber and Delta to launch an electric air taxi service to the airport. Moreover, this speedy new option is anticipated to take to the skies over the next year and will reportedly take under 10 minutes to get there.

While the new air taxi service is set to debut in the US within a year, the new technology from Joby Aviation will debut in Dubai this year before it eventually rolls out in the US.
Once the electric air taxis are officially in operation, passengers will be able to fly from Manhattan to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in Queens in only seven minutes. Moreover, a flying taxi is also capable of traveling from downtown Los Angeles to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in just eight minutes. Both these commutes normally take around 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the traffic.
When will the flying taxis be available?

The next 12 months mark a critical inflection point, not just for Joby, but for our entire industry, as we look ahead to carrying our first passengers.
Once the electric air taxis complete the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification process, they will also be available for passenger transport in the US.

Meanwhile, as soon as the first vertiports open in Los Angeles and New York, travelers will be able to connect with the electric air taxi service to simplify their journey to and from the airport.
Meanwhile, the partnership with the ride-share company, Uber, means that hailing an air taxi will become as easy as booking any other vehicle via the ride-hailing app.
What will passengers pay for the flying taxi?

Moreover, with the partnership between Joby, Delta and Uber, they hope to transform the travel experience with home-to-airport transportation within the next few years. According to Joby’s website, the team of engineers at Joby has dedicated itself to delivering an aircraft that will be quiet enough to land in your neighborhood.
