Norse Atlantic Airways is a low-cost airline headquartered in Oslo, Norway. On Wednesday, the airline announced its new route between New York’s John F. Currently, the airline offers flights between New York and Athens, but with a stopover at London’s Gatwick Airport, which covers a duration of 18 hours.

According to ETN, the airline plans to operate the new flight five times each week from May 30, 2024, through October 26, 2024. The flight time will be 9 hours and 35 minutes for the direct service, almost half of the previous flight time.

Speaking to Travel + Leisure, Norse Atlantic Airways’ CEO and Founder Bjorn Tore Larsen said:

This launch underscores our commitment to meeting the evolving travel needs of our passengers. We believe this route will not only cater to the demand for travel to Greece but will also create opportunities for cultural exchange and business collaborations between these two vibrant destinations.

While many travelers prefer to head to the Greek Islands for their vacations, Greece’s capital, Athens, has so much to offer in the way of history, culture and cuisine. The city is at the heart of Ancient Greece. It is still dominated by its most famous landmarks, including the Acropolis – a hilltop citadel packed with ancient buildings, including the colonnaded Parthenon Temple.

Meanwhile, travelers can learn more about the history of Athens at the Acropolis Museum and the National Archaeological Museum. On display are fascinating sculptures, jewelry, vases and more exhibits from Ancient Greece.
