‘Starring Great Britain’ campaign launches January 2025
Travelers can look forward to a new, exciting “Starring Great Britain” campaign coming in January 2025. Launched by Visit Britain, the campaign allows fans to step into the screen to explore the film set of their favorite movie or TV show in the UK. Besides the popular film sets in England’s capital, London, ‘Starring Great Britain’ is set to introduce travelers to many other filming locations from film and TV.
In recent years, blockbuster movies and TV shows have increasingly been filmed in locations in the UK, including historic and beautiful cities like Bath, Manchester and Oxford. Moreover, they are often filmed in the spectacular countryside in Wales, and each one invites fans to visit and enjoy. What makes the campaign even better is that many of the iconic film sets are accessible to the public. Patricia Yates, CEO of Visit Britain said in a statement:
Nine out of 10 visitors coming to the UK are interested in doing and seeing a film and TV experience.
That being said, which are the top filming locations to visit in the UK? Yates added, “Starring Great Britain is where the destination is the star of the show.”

Stroll The Royal Crescent and experience themed options like a Regency afternoon tea. It doesn’t get more British than that!– Wonka
After the Wonka film was released last year, starring Hugh Grant, Timothée Chalamet and Olivia Colman, the city of Oxford has been welcoming the movie’s fans. Enjoy a tour of Oxford’s prestigious colleges and historic landmarks where the majority of the filming took place.– Harry Potter
Naturally, Harry Potter has many fans who can find many experiences related to the movies outside of London. This includes the spell-binding Alnwick Castle in Northumberland that played the role of Hogwarts. Even better, fans can recreate Harry’s first flying lesson with broomstick training. Meanwhile, these are just some of the exciting filming locations just waiting for fans to visit. Moreover, Yates explains the popularity of Britain as a place to film, attributing the phenomenon to the rise of streaming platforms that make them available to millions of fans.“Their growth has made it more universal,” she says.
Filming as a tourism driver
The power of TV and movies has led Visit Britain to invite a diverse range of visitors and film producers throughout Britain. Yates added that travelers are seeking more authentic experiences, tied in with the global travel trend of regenerative tourism, saying:
“It’s beneficial to communities and enriches the high streets,” she says. “Cafés, restaurants, and pubs are able to stay open because they attract tourism visitors.”
