With fall officially arriving on September 22, many people have already started planning their pumpkin patch adventures this year. But if you’d like to visit one that many visitors think is excellent, then consider Treworgy Family Orchards in Levant, Maine.
You don’t have to wait until October to enjoy the various activities offered on the farm, because there are fun things to do at other times of the year. But many pumpkin patches and fall attractions begin opening in mid-to-late September, with the highlights coming from late September through October.
Pumpkin Season at Treworgy Family Orchards
October is a particularly popular month because of the pumpkins, apple picking, corn mazes, cider, and gift-shop fun. Per USA Today, when you visit the property at 3876 Union Street, you have the opportunity in fall to take “a horse-drawn farm tour, so you can get a good look at the expansive pumpkin patch.”
It’s a large place with miles of pumpkin rows, so taking the hayride is a good idea, and of course, you can select your own pumpkins. A petting zoo is fun for the kids, and refreshments are available.

One of the biggest attractions is the maze. According to a press release from September last year, Treworgy Family Orchards placed in the top 10 in a readers’ survey for both Best Pumpkin Patch and Best Corn Maze, continuing years of similar honors.
The maze covers over four acres, with the corn growing to a height of 10 feet. There’s a Hall of Fame board in the center of the maze where guests who actually find it may sign their names. One interesting statistic is that it takes 60,000 corn plants to create the maze.
Family-Friendly Activities Throughout the Year
Treworgy Family Orchards is a locally owned family farm that has become popular over the years because of its efforts to provide family-friendly entertainment.
Activities and attractions include a summer farm camp, petting zoo, apple picking, pumpkin patch, berry picking, and Christmas trees.
What Visitors Say
Visitor reviews on Tripadvisor are consistently positive, with particular praise for the friendly people who work on the farm. One person wrote, “We have made this a yearly tradition with our family.” They went on to say, “we love picking our own apples, taking a hay ride around the farm, navigating their creative mazes and of course, we ALWAYS have to indulge in their warm apple cider donuts.”
Another reviewer said, “Treworgy’s lived up to our hopes and more … We had fun checking out the farm animals, admired the apple orchard, [and] the massive pumpkin patch.”
While the reviewer wasn’t there during pumpkin season, it’s useful to know that the farm offers much more than just a few weeks of fun in the fall.
The website confirms that opening hours are Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The farm is closed on Mondays.
During holidays, the farm is open on Labor Day and Columbus/Indigenous Peoples Day, but closes on the Wednesday following each Monday holiday. However, it is closed on July 4.
It’s important to check the website as pumpkin season approaches in October because the farm is extremely popular with people visiting Maine during the fall.
