Pack up a romantic picnic and head to the beach close to the city to relax on the sand and listen to the waves rolling in. The nearest strips of sand are within a 20 to 35-minute’ drive of downtown Charleston and make a great day out. Take a 35-minute drive to Isle of Palms to see the beautiful mansions and manicured lawns overlooking the beach. Alternatively, a 20-minute drive will take you to Sullivan’s Island. If you forget the picnic, enjoy lunch or dinner at The Longboard or the Obstinate Daughter before heading back to town.
