Many US travelers believe they have to head to the Caribbean or Latin America to enjoy warm sunny beaches. However, sun, sand and sea are available at these three beach locations, with no passport needed. While currently, we are enjoying the fall weather, start planning ahead for a perfect beach vacation this coming winter to escape the chill.

Myrtle Beach, SC for warm, sunny beaches

Stretching along the shores of South Carolina, Myrtle Beach is a warm and friendly winter destination. Here, visitors have no problem finding the perfect spot to relax along the 60 miles of white-sand beaches on this pristine coastline.

For couples vacationing alone, the town’s local boutiques are well worth exploring, and dining is available in the many eateries in town. If traveling with the family, Myrtle Beach is a family-friendly destination with plenty for the kids to see and do. Head to the Family Kingdom Amusement Park for great winter fun. Meanwhile, if feeling energetic, the beautiful Myrtle Beach State Park is a fun hike for everyone.

Naturally, when thinking of warm US states, Florida instantly comes to mind and one ideal beach destination is Jacksonville. Lying in northeastern Florida, Jacksonville is perfect to visit in the winter months after the scorching summer temperatures cool right down. On average, the mercury rarely dips below 64.5°F, even in October making for a comfortable getaway.

Besides the pristine beaches and warm sunshine, there is much to do in Jacksonville including cultural and natural attractions. One example is the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens. Nestled along the St. Johns River, the museum features some impressive artwork, as well as beautiful gardens to explore in the fresh air.

Speaking of fresh air, a visit to the Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens is another beautiful place to enjoy. Meanwhile, many more opportunities abound for entertainment, hiking and birdwatching in this part of the Sunshine State.

Staying in the Sunshine State, Fort Lauderdale is perfect for a warm, winter getaway at the beach. Among the city’s attractions is the beautiful canal system in this southeastern Florida location. A visit instantly brings to mind the canals of Venice, without having to take an international flight.

However, the main attraction in this Florida location is its most beautiful coastline. Here, visitors can enjoy the golden sand and azure waters, for sunbathing, surfing or other fun water sports.

Meanwhile, when it comes to the evenings, the Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District is the place to be. Here, visitors can enjoy many events and fun festivals during the winter months. For those needing retail therapy, Las Olas Boulevard is the best place for shopping.

This winter, experience a warm, sunny beach vacation without leaving the USA. You will return home tanned, relaxed and happy; ready to take on anything winter has in store for you.
