Imagine going to Madagascar, because if you get there, you’ll find yourself on a very big island where most of the wildlife exists nowhere else on Earth. Put that with magnificent landscape, and you’ve got a bucket list destination to look forward to.

Fascinating Aspects

It’s not just the wildlife that fascinates folks who visit the country. That’s because, per World Wildlife, “Madagascar…developed distinct ecosystems and extraordinary wildlife since it split from the African continent an estimated 160 million years ago.”

If frozen in time appeals to you, then you might thoroughly enjoy visiting the “Forests of Razor Stone” and “Upside-Down Trees.” Of course, those are the baobab. They proicide a rich tangy fruit, and the amazing giants reaching to the sky, collect and hold water.

Visitors won’t want to miss the iconic Avenue of the Baobabs on the west of the country.

Interetsing Geology

The geological side seems fascinating, and one thing everyone notices is the red colored earth. That’s because of very rich levels of iron in the soil.

And certainly put the “stone forest” on your itinerary as well. There, you’ll find, at the Tsingy de Bemaraha, a labyrinth of jagged limestone pinnacles. Like giant needles, they rise up as high as 70 meters.

Plenty of Animals

You won’t find lions and elephants on the island though. But you will find plenty of fascinating lemurs. Possibly you already saw some in a video, but Madagascar has many different kinds of these cute creatures.

Some of them enjoy sunbathing on rocks. Meanwhile, others like the Sifaka lemurs bring their very own show as they hop sideways in what looks like a dance.

Little predators will turn up as well. And visitors love recounting spotting the nocturnal Aye-Aye.

Then there’s the Fossa which prefers sticking to canopies of the forests. Not to mention the little cat-like creatures won’t be seen in the wild anywhere else in the world.

As for variety and size, chameleons bring an astonishing range. Some of them are as big as a house cat, and others are so tiny, you can gently hold them on a single finger.

Stunning Beaches

Beach people also love the place. And there are plenty of stunning beaches to choose from. From quiet coves, to bustling fun, the waves roll in along more than 5,000 miles of coastline.

Many people enjoy the Andilana Beach because it’s relatively safe, has stunning white sand and that makes for perfect Instagram pics because of the turquoise colored water.

Looking for a party? Try Ambatoloaka, which offers bars, nice dining options, and plenty of watersports on offer.

Some places like Nosy Iranja are found off the main island, and the nesting turtles attract nature lovers. In fact, it’s another example of the amazing diversity of life in Madagascar.
