The Brontë Garden Hotel in Harare has long been a go-to for anyone landing in the capital of Zimbabwe. And guess what? Recent stays in 2026 prove it’s still delivering that same excellent service. Despite the city’s usual chaos, the accommodation on the corner of 4th Avenue and Baines stays mostly quiet and tucked away. Read on to find out more.
Harare Travel Increases
Recently, Zimbabwe smashed tourism goals, bringing in over 1.6 million international visitors. After getting tipped as one of the best destinations in the world, the capital saw a massive surge in popularity. Obviously, that many travelers means the local hospitality industry had to step up. Not only in Victoria Falls, but in the main cities as well.
Of course, there are plenty of excellent hotels to choose from. Rated among the best on TripAdvisor are the Hyatt Regency Harare, The Meikles, Cresta Hotel, and Pamuzinda Safari Lodge. However, Pamuzinda’s a bit far from business centers. Of course, The Brontë Garden Hotel is in there as well. And it still meets the standards that folks look for with an average rating of 4.3 out of five on the website.
Business travelers love it because there’s a selection of board rooms and facilities with work spaces. Plus, plenty of equipment for any presentation is also available.
Fresh Upgrades At The Bronte
The Brontë Garden Hotel has long been a well-kept secret by companies who work in Africa. And with good reason. It’s simply one of the nicest places geared toward efficient business meetings and quiet evening sundowners.
Over the last 12 years, the hotel didn’t just trade on old standards. In fact, while they kept the classic white colonial buildings and lush green gardens, upkeep and improvements continued.
At the moment, one block of rooms gets a full refurbishment. The update follows a trend of modernizing the property while hanging onto that “old Africa” vibe folks love. Recent stays showed me the staff still deliver ultra-polite service, and fix any minor issues immediately.
Dining & Local Art
Personally, I think the food remains a highlight. On a recent Easter visit, three of us enjoyed coffee and rounds of delicious scones with real cream for less than $16. Not bad, right?
The Palms restaurant still offers a cool breezy veranda experience overlooking the pool, and their breakfast menu meets the needs of just about every culture.
Meanwhile, the newer Emmanuel’s stays a top pick for locals. Plus, you’ll notice plenty of local Shona stone sculptures dotted around the grounds. That adds a nice touch of Zimbabwean culture to those manicured lawns.
Convenience In The Avenues
The hotel offers a solid range of rooms, from executive suites to the more budget-friendly blocks. Notably, even the budget rooms are neat and clean with en suite bathrooms. Each one has a small balcony as well. Plus it’s conveniently close to the gym and a more secluded swimming pool.
Admittedly, the Avenues have grown noisier with traffic over the years, but the security keeps the grounds peaceful. Plus, it’s conveniently close to the modern Fife Avenue shopping center or downtown government departments, making it ideal for business or leisure.
