Many people are excited about the solar eclipse coming on April 8 and are hoping to be somewhere along the path of totality to experience it. It is estimated that some one to four million people will be traveling to experience the celestial event. Moreover, in order to see the sun eclipsed by the moon’s shadow, you need to be somewhere along that path of totality. Anyone outside of that path will only experience a partial solar eclipse because of the moon’s trajectory in relation to the Earth. Seeing even a partial solar eclipse is exciting, but wouldn’t it be great to experience the total thing?

Airbnb has just released a new report, revealing an amazing 1,000 percent increase in searches on its platform. Meanwhile, the searches are for places along the historic eclipse’s path of totality, right across the continent. When you think about it, the event will last for maybe four and three-quarter minutes. However, people are excited about the rare opportunity to see the moon block out the sun. It’s not like this happens all the time! In fact, the next one is only expected in 2039.
Meanwhile, the huge interest over experiencing the total solar eclipse is high enough to help drive travel this spring along the path of totality through parts of Mexico, the US and Canada.
Which city is best to experience the celestial event?
Airbnb has produced a list of the top trending destinations placed along the solar eclipse’s path of totality to help travelers make a choice. Along the way, the travel website reports that out of those making a pilgrimage to see the eclipse on April 8, the highest number is coming from New York City and Mexico City.
Right now, there is reportedly still time to find the perfect spot to experience the solar eclipse as places are not yet booked out. Moreover, there is still availability as new hosts from across North America are opening their homes for the event. According to Airbnb, more than 40 percent of private rental accommodations are still available for booking right now.
