However, heading inland, the country offers many natural wonders in its national parks. Visit the ancient caves of the first inhabitants, viewing their pictographs and petroglyphs. Some of the best parks to visit include the Cueva de Las Maravillas close to La Romana and the Los Tres Ojos National Park, close to Santo Domingo.

This beautiful island produces a huge range of food products, including coffee, cocoa, sugar and mangoes.
