Vacations in Hawaii could be cheaper in 2024
Hawaii is dependent on tourism dollars and in the last two years, prices have been sky high for people to travel to the islands. However, while the state is dependent on tourism, experts believe there will come a time when prices will have to drop to earn enough tourism dollars. In fact, they say this could happen sooner rather than later, which is good news indeed for travelers. The deadly devastating wildfires in Lahaina, Maui in August have played a major part in Hawaii falling below its visitor count for the year. According to Beat of Hawaii, that island is unable to get beyond around 50 percent of its normal visitor arrivals. Meanwhile, this is despite the fact that the impacted area of Maui represents only 15 percent of the island.
Meanwhile, tourism to other exotic locations, like Bora Bora in Tahiti, has seen a major decrease in price. On top of this, more nonstop flights have become available from Los Angeles, Seattle and San Francisco to Papeete, Tahiti, as well as weekly flights from Honolulu.Other popular exotic destinations include the US Virgin Islands, Phuket, Santorini, Costa Rica, Bali and the Maldives. Moreover, other less exotic but equally popular locations, like Cape Town, London and Paris are expected to offer lower-cost travel in 2024.
These cheaper locations are among the major reasons for forcing Hawaii to keep up in order to attract the tourists it requires.
Increase in demand
According to Travel Pulse, demand and cost will soon line up for Hawaii, making the US state much more affordable to visit. Some factors include high interest rates, job layoffs and challenging global economic conditions. This could mean there are some deals to be had for those planning to travel to the state next year. In fact, as costs are reduced in other popular tourist destinations, travel advisors believe that Hawaii will become more price-competitive.However, there is one problem, as the Hawaiian Islands are popular with New Zealanders, especially those traveling on Hawaiian Airlines. It turns out that between April and November 2024, the airline will briefly suspend its three times-a-week flight between Auckland and Honolulu. In fact, the last flight will leave Honolulu on April 1, and will only resume in November 2024.
The reason this is a problem is that not only do New Zealanders enjoy vacationing in Hawaii, but they also use travel there with Hawaiian Airlines as a jumping point to visit the United States.
