Cunard’s Queen Anne makes her debut in New York
For the first time in the iconic cruise line’s 185-year history, two female leaders are in command, as Queen Anne debuts in New York. Cunard reveals that the ship’s captain is Inger Thorhauge, and Cunard’s President Katie McAlister, were onshore for Queen Anne’s debut in the US.
For the first time in Cunard’s 185-year history, the line has two female leaders in command. Captain Inger Klein Thorhauge, one of the few female captains in the maritime industry, is at the helm of Queen Anne, and Katie McAlister, Cunard’s president, is steering the company into an exciting era of luxury cruising.
Queen Anne’s design was led by creative director Adam Tihany, who led a team of world-class designers to imagine a ship that celebrates Cunard’s rich art-deco heritage, while at the same time embracing modern elegance.Moreover, the new ship boasts an exclusive collection of 4,300 art pieces, commissioned from emerging and established artists worldwide. Each work of art features a unique interpretation of the iconic cruise line’s legacy.
Meanwhile, Queen Anne also features elevated onboard entertainment with innovative venues and experiences. These include the “Bright Lights Society,” an intimate cabaret-style venue.
Wellness offerings for guests
As Cunard celebrates the debut of Queen Anne, it has also enhanced its wellness offerings for its guests, while launching the Pavilion Wellness Café. The new venue serves breakfast, lunch and daytime dining, with a menu celebrating plant-based cuisine, along with sustainably sourced meat, fish and dairy.Meanwhile, guests can experience the Harper’s Bazaar Wellness at Sea program. This recently introduced program offers three-day packages, tailored to guests’ relaxation, energy restoration, or recovery, while at sea.
Cunard and Queen Anne’s 107-day inaugural World Voyage
Queen Anne’s debut in New York is just the first stop on its 107-day inaugural World Voyage, which continues Cunard’s legacy as the pioneer of world cruises since 1922.
