Travelers who enjoy the tale of Dorothy and Toto and their adventures in Oz will soon be able to visit a new Wizard of Oz land in Australia. Said to be a “world first,” The Wizard of Oz Land is expected to open later this year in the Gold Coast region of the country. Moreover, the colorful new land with its yellow brick road forms part of a $40 million upgrade at Warner Bros. Movie World. It will replace the previous Arkham Asylum area and will open at some stage in 2024.
Off to see the Wizard of Oz Land
According to Theme Park Insider, the new Wizard of Oz land will be full of fantasy, offering visitors a magical experience. It will feature two family roller coasters, along with thematic elements to transport guests into the enchanting world.

As part of its reveal, Warner Bros. Movie World has released the names of its new roller coasters, just waiting to thrill visitors. The Flight of the Wicked Witch will feature a Vekoma Suspended Family Coaster, towering up to 62 feet and zooming the family at a top speed of almost 42 mph.
Meanwhile, the Kansas Twister will offer guests a thrilling experience on its two-track, racing Vekoma Family Boomerang, reaching heights of 72 feet with a top speed of 36 mph.
Follow the Yellow Brick Road at Warner Bros. Movie World
Moreover, the new land will boast intricate projection mapping, captivating façades and amazing sculptures. All has been designed to take guests along the iconic Yellow Brick Road. Naturally, Dorothy Gale of the classic movie will be seen, traveling with the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow and Tin Man. While not included in images so far, hopefully, Dorothy’s canine pal, Toto will also make an appearance.Warner Bros. These enchanting characters have recently announced the new land on Instagram, including a preview of the ongoing construction. Fans will instantly recognize iconic settings from the movie, including Dorothy’s Kansas home, the Emerald City and the Wicked Witch’s castle.

When the precinct was first announced, Clark Kirby, Chief Executive of Village Roadshow Theme Parks, operator of Warner Bros. Movie World said:
This precinct is going to be like nothing we have ever done at Movie World and we are working closely with our partners at Warner Bros. Themed Entertainment to make this one of the most beautifully themed precincts in Australian theme parks.
While so far, no official opening date has been announced for the Wizard of Oz land, fans of the movie can look forward to its debut sometime later this year. This wonderful addition to the theme park’s landscape will take its visitors Over the Rainbow and fully into the story.
