Right now, travelers are heading out for their summer vacation and, of course, Mexico is a popular spot, especially in the Mexican Caribbean. Popular resorts like Cancun, Tulum and Playa del Carmen will be packed with people, with hardly any wiggle room on the beaches. However, for anyone looking for a peaceful beach experience, with crystal-clear turquoise waters, Costa Mujeres is the place to be. Read on to find out why Costa Mujeres is the new hotspot in the Mexican Caribbean.

Costa Mujeres is peace in the Mexican Caribbean

In recent years, the coast running from Cancun to Tulum has turned into a party zone. Here, beach clubs blast music late into the night, while the beaches have little room between the many beach towels and parasols.

Luckily, up until now, the trend hasn’t reached Costa Mujeres, with its idyllic beaches, crystal-clear water and, most importantly, peace and quiet. Located 6.5 mi (10.5 km) to the north of Cancun, this beautiful place is on a quieter stretch of coast away from the hectic Hotel Zone of Cancun.

Yes, it has resorts, but they are located a distance from each other, which offers guests more exclusivity and beautiful views of the Caribbean Sea and the city on the horizon.

Entertainment and food options

As Costa Mujeres is on the Mayan Riviera there are a number of entertainment options and travelers should expect to see youngsters partying at the local theme bars. However, it is nothing like the craziness that is downtown Cancun.

Meanwhile, according to the Cancun Sun, this is among the most underrated foodie destinations on the Mayan Riviera. It describes the area as offering a “fiesta” of flavors in its haute-cuisine, as well as upscale restaurants in easy walking distance of the resorts. Meanwhile, the publication says Costa Mujeres could very well be the “culinary champion” of the Mexican Caribbean.

Meanwhile, Costa Mujeres is investing in its potential popularity by introducing at least two new resorts this year. Even though this section of the coast is quiet, it certainly has potential and visitor numbers could soon grow.

Moreover, as hotels in popular areas like Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum quickly selling out, this is good news for the quieter Costa Mujeres. The new resorts are expected to be ready by 2025, which adds to the selection of accommodations on offer. Currently, in or near Costa Mujeres, there are 55 five-star properties, which makes it seem that luxury tourism is the name of the game here, but there are options for all budgets too.

Safety and Security in the Mexican Caribbean

One important note is that Costa Mujeres has an almost perfect track record when it comes to maintaining public safety. Admittedly, the Mayan Riviera is a relatively safe destination for US travelers, with pickpockets and the occasional scamming taxi driver. Meanwhile, the occasional shooting within the Cancun area has scared away some travelers.

While the shootings are said to be linked to gang activity, and gangs usually leave tourists alone, Cancun has increased its policing of the Mayan Riviera. Meanwhile, in Costa Mujeres, where most resorts are set in gated communities, crime levels are low and under control.

With its white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters, delicious food and a sense of safety, Costa Mujeres will likely become more popular soon. Take advantage of the current peace and quiet by having a vacation in this beautiful spot in the Mexican Caribbean.
