Lula Hotel is now open on the beach in Tulum
Formerly Sanará Tulum, Colibri Boutique Hotels (CBH) purchased the property in the summer of 2023. Together with its new name, the property underwent a full rebrand and design to keep it beautifully in tune with the area, with its beach and jungle vibe. The boutique hotel features 19 rooms, with choices of both seaside and jungle accommodations and all are beautifully appointed. Moreover, guests can dine at the Mediterranean al fresco restaurant, relax in the day spa or enjoy the services of the beachside wellness center.About the design of the hotel
CBH designed the original hotel to reflect the “imaginary persona of an intrepid, Mediterranean-born woman named Lula.”
Throughout the hotel, bold Mediterranean blues and yellows stand out, while the staff is focused on ensuring the best experience for their guests. Laura Avila, Property Designer and General Manager at Lula Hotel said:
Lula has been a joy to bring to life. Every color, every bite of food and every program offering has been created to bring a sense of wonder and inspiration to our guests. I love Lula and you will too.
Meanwhile, Brendan Leach, CEO of Colibri Boutique Hotels, said:

About Tulum as a destination in Mexico
Located in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, Tulum was originally the site of a pre-Columbian Mayan walled city and a major port for Coba. These days, Tulum is a charming resort town, nestling on the Yucatan Peninsula, renowned for its idyllic beaches and the well-preserved Mayan ruins. These include a large stone structure dubbed El Castillo (the castle), which stands high on a rocky cliff above the beach and turquoise sea. Located nearby, the Parque Nacional Tulum is a coastal area featuring mangroves and cenotes (natural limestone sinkholes). While there are currently delays in the construction, Mexico’s famous new Maya Tren (Maya Train) will eventually take visitors from Cancun to Tulum. Currently, the train travels as far as the resort town of Playa del Carmen, while passing through beautiful scenery. However, those visiting Lula Hotel in Tulum can take the train as far as Playa del Carmen and then travel the 40-mile distance to Tulum by taxi at a cost of around 600 pesos (around US$30).
