Travel company Expedia has some tips on the most popular destinations to visit this Easter. Meanwhile, spring is already here, so you don’t have to wait for the holidays if you need a break. As the weather warms up and the spring flowers come out, Expedia has released its annual trending trips list – the Easter Travel Outlook.  Read on to discover seven of the best places to be for the coming holidays.

Where to travel this Easter according to Expedia.

This year, the Easter holidays run from March 29 and the following are the best places to be in Europe.

1. Visit Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Amsterdam comes top in Expedia’s list and while the city is trying to drop its negative image as a party city, it is still a popular destination. In fact, the city is a popular choice in the spring, with millions of tulips blooming in nearby Keukenhof. Those of us more mature folk will recall Max Bygraves’ popular song, Tulips from Amsterdam. Meanwhile, a visit to the city’s art galleries and museums is always a pleasure.

2. Visit Paris, France this Easter

Paris is always a perennial favorite for tourists and now, with its preparations for the summer Olympics, it is the perfect time to visit. Gaze at the iconic Eiffel Tower or people watch at the many café terraces of the City of Light. Moreover, experience the beautiful cherry blossoms seen in the city. Needless to say, while visiting Paris this Easter, enjoy the delicious cuisine in the city’s many restaurants.

3. Visit Barcelona, Spain

On Expedia’s list, Spain is the only European country to feature twice. Malaga is an exciting and historic city on the Costa del Sol and a major destination. Meanwhile, its beautiful beaches are washed by the Mediterranean and its climate is pleasant all year round. However, spring is the ideal time to visit before the summer heat kicks in. Moreover, the city is perfectly situated for day trips to the many popular seaside towns and villages on the Costa del Sol.

6. Istanbul, Turkey for an Easter break

Coming in sixth place on the list, Istanbul is also an exciting and historic city, poised on the edge of Europe and a gateway to Asia. Its unique blend of culture and architecture from both continents offers many fascinating sites to visit. One must-see site is the Byzantine Hagia Sophia, which was originally a church but is now a mosque and boasts an impressive 6th-century dome and rare Christian mosaics.

7. Visit Lisbon, the capital of Portugal

No. 7 on Expedia’s list of Easter destinations is Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, which has always been a popular place to visit. With its almost guaranteed sunshine all year round, Lisbon is also one of the most affordable cities in Europe. Here, visitors can explore modern art and museums and enjoy some of the best food on the continent of Europe. Moreover, the city boasts convenient public transport, including the No. 28 tram which takes people to popular neighborhoods like Alfama, Baixa and Graça with many historical sites to see along the way.

Visit one of these seven destinations in Europe this Easter and to help you get there, Expedia predicts that the most affordable flights will leave on March 30, or Easter Saturday.
