The Arkansas River is popular with many people and those who love the beautiful area might feel happy about the recent renovations at the Pleasant Valley RV Park.

There are several places with similar names, so you should note that this particular one is in Colorado. Howard is a small community in Fremont County, about an hour west of Cañon City. In May this year, upgrades will be officially open to the public. Read on to find out more details.

Renovations On The Property

Howard, Colorado gets a whole lot better for families who love vacations in the area. Already, Howard brings travelers a lot of quiet charm, but according to PR Newswire this Easter, there’s a grand reopening set for May 1, 2026. Known for 56 full-hookup sites and mountain vistas, there’s also some revamped lodging.

For family gatherings, it’s great news, as the property introduces a fully renovated three-bedroom loft designed for larger groups. Additionally, updates took place on their one-bedroom cabin. For those who prefer a “turn-key” outdoors experience, the park continues to offer glamping Airstreams and dedicated riverfront tent sites.

More River Access

Oh, and there’s more good news. Pleasant Valley RV Park also leans into the “basecamp” lifestyle. How? Well, in future they expand the number of river access points. So, it takes the hassle out of raft launching. And of course, anglers should love it because of much easier access. Notably, you won’t have to leave the property to enjoy some fly-fishing on the Arkansas River.

Pet-friendly, folks will find a camp boutique, a “bark park” for four-legged friends, and a community yard featuring a flagstone patio overlooking the water. If you’re looking to escape the notorious I-70 congestion, the spot sits just 15 minutes outside of Salida, offering a quieter alternative to the usual traffic.

Modern Convenience

Want the fun of the riverside with modern tech available? Well you get that from Wi-Fi hotspots and a laundry room. However, that hasn’t prevented the charm of fun family activities like BLM land for hiking, biking, and ATV trails.

Brand Manager Jessi Puga noted that the upgrades serve as a promise to guests that they will experience the very best of the valley. To celebrate the new look, Pleasant Valley RV Park will host their grand reopening event throughout May, giving travelers a first-hand look at the upgrades.

Already Popular

Historic reviews on TripAdvisor already give an indication of the good value, and that was before the new updates. One visitor wrote, “It is a beautiful campground on the opposite side of the river from the highway so it’s peaceful and quiet.”

Here are few more reviews:

  • We went with our camping group, FCRV Camping Coyotes and had a great time. The campground is full of trees, and the people were friendly. Tried a little fishing but didn’t catch one, that’s ok it was fun.
  • What a little slice of paradise! Wonderfully shady, huge trees, and of course the lazy Arkansas running by. We enjoyed our private deck over the bank of the river, and found the entire campground clean and welcoming!
  • Very pretty park that overlooks the Arkansas River with snow capped peaks in the distance. You can choose sites that back up over the river or interior sites to save a little but either way you will have a nice spot.”

At one stage, there were some complaints about grey water, but obviously, those were addressed during the renovations.
