Air Canada Increases Capacity For Cherry Blossom Season 2024 In Japan

Interest in Japan’s iconic cherry blossoms was put on pause during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the spring of 2023 saw many visitors. Looking ahead to the spring of 2024, and interest is likely to be even stronger. However, the airline is making a plan with earlier seasonal starts and increased seat capacity. This will allow North Americans to take advantage and visit Tokyo or Osaka for the colorful display.

Increased seating on Air Canada to Japan to see the cherry blossoms

To help those wishing to visit Japan for the famous cherry blossoms, Air Canada is offering 1,100 seats each way, every day between Canada and Japan at peak periods. Up to two daily flights will be available between Toronto and Tokyo, daily departures from Montreal and Vancouver, and flights between Vancouver and Osaka.

Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President, Revenue and Network Planning for Air Canada, said in a statement:

Air Canada’s Asia services continue to reflect strong demand and we are boosting capacity to this geographic area as we deploy our international diversification strategy.

This winter we are pleased to offer up to 57 flights per week between Canada and Asia, and up to 64 flights per week next summer.

Flights to Japan

In the spring, seasonal Osaka flights from Vancouver with start up earlier on May 1, 2024, with three weekly flights, increasing on June 17 to four. Meanwhile, Boeing 777-300ER planes will operate on routes from Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver to Narita.

Reportedly, passengers will get to enjoy more Japanese-inspired menu choices on the flight. Moreover, through a partnership with Bell, Aeroplan members will be able to message for free during flights.
