Visit Sichon in southern Thailand
Located in southern Thailand, Sichon is a small village just waiting to welcome visitors with open arms. According to Lonely Planet, the village has one of the top 10 beaches in Thailand. Meanwhile, it also has a tranquil atmosphere and is backed by the beautiful Khao Luang mountain range, making Sichon wonderfully scenic. However, with all of this, why hasn’t Sichon become popular before? It turns out it was difficult to get there, which is about to change.
New international terminal at Nakhon Si Thammarat Airport
Up until recently, travelers would need to connect in Bangkok and take a lesser-known airline to get there. Alternatively, it would involve a very lengthy drive to the beach destination.
While Nakhon Si Thammarat Airport has been running since the 1990s, until now it has only offered domestic flights within the country’s borders. However, a new international terminal is set to open by the end of this year. Once that opens, it will be much easier to connect and travel to Sichon. However, so far there is no news as to which airlines will use the new terminal.
Unspoiled nature and idyllic beaches
For those seeking unspoiled nature, Sichon definitely has that and more and is likely to be a major attraction for visitors. The village is far from the popular locations and features life as it was 30 years ago, naturally beautiful and culturally authentic.Meanwhile, besides the beaches, the region has beautiful mountains and hiking trails leading to waterfalls. Moreover, the Khao Luang Mountains host hundreds of wildlife species and many types of orchids. Also, with its peaceful atmosphere, Sichon will soon be on other travelers’ budget lists.
Experience Thailand’s culture, history and heritage
Just like nature, the culture here is also unspoiled and travelers can experience a true taste of southern Thailand’s way of life. Here, travelers can explore the beachfront markets, try out the restaurants and so much more.
The capital of the province is Nakhon Si Thammarat, which is more than 1,200 years old and rich in culture and heritage. This is a must-visit place on your visit to Sichon. While Thailand has plenty of Buddhist temples, the one here is something special. In fact, Wat Phra Mahathat (above) is Thailand’s oldest temple, dating back to the 13th century.Once the new international terminal is available, make sure to head to Sichon on your Thailand vacation. Get to experience the magic of the village and its surroundings before it gets popular. Find out more on Thailand’s official tourism website.
