When is best to visit the Maldives?
Whether planning to sunbathe on the beaches, go scuba diving or snorkeling, or on a surf adventure, there is so much else to enjoy here. Because the Maldives is a year-round destination, almost any time is good to visit. However, like other destinations in the world, the weather isn’t always perfect. For those looking for uninterrupted sunshine, the months between December and March are ideal. While there will be plenty of sunshine at other times of the year, it could be broken by the occasional rainstorm or looming clouds. Meanwhile, those times when the weather isn’t ideal are admittedly the cheapest to travel and stay. But with the thought of rainy days, is it really worth the saving? Here we take a brief look into the seasons and the best time to visit the Maldives.
High Season: December to February
High season in the Maldives offers the best weather on the islands, with little chance of rain. In fact, the weather mostly features low humidity and clear blue skies. However, visitors should keep in mind that the Christmas and New Year’s holidays fall during this season and tend to attract huge price hikes. Moreover, the resorts often insist on a minimum stay of five days or more. This means no chance of a long weekend away in paradise during the high season.Shoulder season: March to April
For those travelers seeking heat and glorious sunshine, this weather does continue until the end of April. However, it should be borne in mind that the Maldives swelters during this time with the hottest days. Meanwhile, for anyone seeking a surfing vacation, the surf season in the Maldives starts in March and continues right through to October. While the prices are mostly reasonable at this time of year, keep in mind that they do increase over the Easter holidays.Low Season: May to November
The low season in the Maldives is the ideal time for those travelers on a budget. Even though rains and storms are likely at this time of year, the weather does stay comfortably warm. Meanwhile, the resorts offer their cheapest rates at this time of year. However, bear in mind that when August starts, the prices tend to increase to coincide with the European summer holidays. One interesting tidbit for divers is that the marine life on the western atolls tends to be more varied over the low season.Pick out the best season to visit the exotic and beautiful Maldives to ensure no disappointment.
