Cruise Tails announces naming contest winner for inaugural dog-friendly cruise
A new dog-friendly cruise was announced recently by Cruise Tails in partnership with Margaritaville at Sea. Since then, a contest was run to name the inaugural cruise, and the winner is Shawn Loomis with the entry “Tails of the Seas.”Moreover, Shawn also got to fill the first application spot for the dog-friendly cruise. He will be welcomed on a human-only cruise for two, in partnership with Margaritaville at Sea. Moreover, the company has approved the first wave of human and canine passengers.
Speaking of the naming competition, Steve Matzke, Cruise Tails Captain, said:
Thank you to everyone who participated in the cruise naming competition. It was amazing to see such enthusiastic participation from our community, and we appreciate all of the creative names shared. We will be opening more contest opportunities and are excited to give our community more chances to sail!
Itinerary for Tails of the Seas
Besides revealing the official name for the maiden voyage, Cruise Tails has also released the awaited itinerary for the 7-day, dog-friendly cruise. The ship will sail from Tampa to Key West, Progresso and Cozumel, with pre-boarding events to be announced in 2025.Moreover, as excitement builds for the first-of-its-kind dog-encouraged cruise, the first round of cabin applications has been filled, with a second round set to do the same. Meanwhile, passengers still hoping to claim a spot on the cruise are recommended to apply as soon as possible while spaces last.
After seeing interest and excitement from owners of diverse breeds of dogs around the world, Cruise Tails hopes that human and canine guests on the inaugural “Tails of the Seas” cruise will keep to the provided guidelines and make excellent ambassadors. This allows for looser dog-size-related restrictions on future dog-friendly voyages in 2026.
Activities on the ‘Tails of the Seas’ cruise
As previously reported, human and canine guests can participate in several onboard special activities, with a full support team available for everyone. Among the available options, humans can book an appointment for their pup with dog groomers and they can enjoy puppy massages. Dog-friendly splash stations will also be available onboard. However, passengers can also access dog-free spaces on the ship. These include the Margaritaville Casino, 13 action-packed lounges and live entertainment and music, pool decks and 12, Caribbean island-inspired eateries.
