Cruise Tails and Expedia Cruises team up for Dog-Friendly Cruise
Thanks to Cruise Tails and Expedia Cruises of West Orlando, travelers will be able to take their furry friends on the first-ever, dog-friendly cruise out of Tampa, Florida next year. Moreover, the inaugural cruise is set to sail in November 2025. Meanwhile, the waitlist for the cruise will soon open for those dog parents who have always dreamed of taking their furry pals on vacation.
The dog-friendly cruise will be hosted on Margaritaville at Sea’s signature flagship vessel, the Islander and will sail from Port Tampa Bay. Meanwhile, 250 dogs and their human family are set to become inaugural Ambassadors on the cruise. Moreover, the themed cruise will offer unique activities and experiences, like dog shows and training, costume contests, parades, guest speakers and more. But that’s not all as furry passengers will receive gifts and samples from top vendors and more.
How will the cruise work?
To be able to offer a dog-friendly cruise, Cruise Tails is implementing several protocols for a successful voyage as follows:
- All participants must apply and be approved by the Cruise Tails team, which includes agreeing to certain onboard protocols.
- Each furry friend will require a Pet Health Certificate and Passport, approved and signed off by a licensed veterinarian and will require up-to-date vaccinations and health checks from all participating in the dog-friendly cruise.
- To ensure each human and dog guest has a clean and enjoyable cruise, each family will be allocated a Pet Butler to ensure their cabin and the cruise ship stay in top condition.
- Should readers wonder how their dogs will go potty on a cruise ship, each dog will be given access to a private relief station, accessible on their balcony.
Onboard activities on the dog-friendly cruise
Human and canine guests can participate in several onboard special activities, with a full support team available for everyone. Among the available options, humans can book an appointment for their pup with dog groomers and they can enjoy puppy massages. Dog-friendly splash stations will also be available onboard. However, passengers can also access dog-free spaces on the ship. These include the Margaritaville Casino, 13 action-packed lounges and live entertainment and music, pool decks and 12, Caribbean island-inspired eateries. Meanwhile, humans can enjoy a relaxing experience at the St. Somewhere Spa & Salon.
About Cruise Tails
Speaking of the dog-friendly cruise, Steve Matzke of Cruise Tails said:I consider my Yorkie, Louis, to be part of my family, and for years I missed out on the ‘family reunion’ cruise because I will not travel without him. I want to change that for myself and other dog lovers.
Matzke is at the helm of this new, original dog-friendly cruising experience and Cruise Tails was created with a passion for family. Previously, many pet owners had to forego the comfort and elegance of a luxury cruise because their furry family members couldn’t attend. However, now, everyone can enjoy a cruise, while resting assured that their dogs are not only welcome, but celebrated as special guests.
