‘Stars & Stripes’ Fourth of July Party in Benalmádena
The ‘Stars & Stripes’ Party will be held for the second consecutive year in Benalmádena on the Costa del Sol. However, this year, it will take place on the patio of Castillo El Bil Bil, and not at the Plaza de la Mezquita like last year.Held on Thursday, July 4, the all-day event will feature live music and entertainment for Americans living in Spain to celebrate American Independence Day. Moreover, anyone else who would like to attend the festivities is welcome.
The all-day event is organized by local entertainer, Cath John, with the support of the town hall. Meanwhile, popular singer/musician Bobby B will host the festivities, starting at midday, with live music from 3 pm. Tables and chairs will be set up in shaded areas on the patio so everyone can relax and enjoy the fun and festivities, which will continue until around 8 pm.
The party is sponsored by several local businesses, restaurants and bars and is free to attend. Meanwhile, the classic American cuisine including burgers and hot dogs will be served along with a selection of bottled beers, including Budweiser and other brands.
Music and entertainment to celebrate American Independence Day
Among this year’s entertainment lineup are several of the Costa del Sol’s top entertainers and bands. Meanwhile, this will include popular vocalist Tony Whitehouse, renowned for his tributes to boy bands and covers of classic pop and soul. Moreover, Mama Cath and the Soul Sisters will perform their tribute to soul, Tamla Motown, and pop.
Other tribute acts include Lady Gaga (Paige Lefly), UB40 (Matt Hoy), Blondie (Emma Prothero) and tributes to divas of rock and pop by Divas Forever. Additional acts at the “Stars & Stripes” event will include Buddy and the Crickets, Rock of the Ages, Wayne Ward, Laura Elen, The Landstrykers and the TAPAS choir.
Other Fourth of July events in southern Spain
Staying in Malaga Province, close to the coast, the white village of Macharaviaya has celebrated the Fourth of July each year since 2009. Meanwhile, the annual event celebrates historic links between the Axarquia village and the USA. It is held in honor of Bernardo de Gálvez, a hero of the American War of Independence who was born in the village.Meanwhile, this year, the coastal town of Nerja is also joining in the fun with various activities planned.
