Inland Beach at Zahara De La Sierra, Spain To Open This Week

La Playita, Cadiz Province’s inland beach is preparing to open for the summer. This remarkable inland beach is set near the hilltop white village (Pueblo Blanco) of Zahara de la Sierra and will keep its visitors cool for the long summer months. Dubbed La Playita, this forms part of the Arroyomolinos recreational area and opens on Friday, June 14, 2024.

Set right in the heart of a natural park, the La Playita is known for its crystal-clear, clean water and the amenities and services it offers to locals and travelers alike.

The inland beach opens on Friday, June 14, 2024, and will remain open until September 15. Meanwhile, opening hours are from 11:00 to 19:00 in June and September, but one hour longer 11:00 to 20:00 in July and August, the main summer months. Meanwhile, all other facilities besides the beach will be open from June 16 to September 10.

Moreover, the entry price on Monday to Friday for adults (12 years and over) is €3.5 ($3.80) per day and for children (from 4 to 11 years of age) is €3 ($3.23) per day. Children from 0-3 years can enter free of charge. Meanwhile, pensioners pay €3 ($3.23) per day.

On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, adults (12 years and over) pay €4.5 ($4.84) per day and children (from 4 to 11 years of age) pay €3.50 ($3.77) per day. Children from 0 to 3 years enter free of charge while pensioners pay €3.50 ($3.77) per day.

La Playita is also available for groups (minimum of 15 people) at lower rates with adults paying €2.50 ($2.70) per day and children and pensioners €2 ($2.15) per day. However, the discount only applies on working days and by prior arrangement (at least three days in advance.

Where is the Arroyomolinos recreation area?

The Arroyomolinos recreational area nestles at the foot of the Monte Prieto mountain range, 300 m (985 ft) from the Cueva del Susto cave system. Moreover, it is close to the banks of Zahara’s reservoir in the heart of the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park

Set between forest and fruit orchards, the river’s course has been used to create a small artificial beach where visitors can enjoy tranquility in the summer months. Meanwhile, the Arroyomolinos recreation area also features a bar/restaurant, plus a beach bar next to the water. Moreover, La Playita is staffed with lifeguards and EMTs for safety and the water temperature is perfect for cool relief from the intense summer heat. The inland beach also offers free parking.

Besides the welcoming beach and cool water, another attraction is El Bosque Suspendido (The Hanging Forest), an aerial acrobatic area with walkways and ladders suspended between the trees of the forest and also a fun zip line. Visit the official website for more information.
