Beaches Resorts in the Caribbean are renowned for family vacations and have been working in partnership with the nonprofit, Sesame Workshop, for some time. However, the resorts are set to introduce new Sesame Street yoga programming for the whole family. The new Sesame Street Sunrise Yoga program offers guests new opportunities for mindful family interactions. Moreover, it has been launched during the Mental Health Awareness Month of May, allowing kids and parents a way to start their mornings practicing yoga under the Caribbean Sun.

The new Sesame Street Sunrise Yoga program is available at all three Beaches Resorts properties in the Caribbean in Jamaica, and Turks and Caicos. Meanwhile, it introduces the kids to the beneficial practice of yoga while interacting with some of their most beloved characters. Moreover, Cookie Monster, Elmo, Bert and Abby Cadabby will take turns leading the yoga sessions.

Jennifer Ahearn, SVP, Global Strategic Partnerships and Themed Entertainment spoke of the new yoga program:

Sesame Workshop is committed to the emotional well-being of young children and families, building on a long history of support in this critical area.

Yoga is a playful way to help children practice mindfulness, and we’re proud to offer this new experience at Beaches Resorts, where we’re kicking off 20 years of partnership together.

About the yoga sessions

Each yoga session runs for 40 minutes and is designed to be playful while combining mindfulness, movement and fun for kids and parents alike. In each class, parents and children are led by Sesame Street characters, as they learn the various poses, stretches and breathing exercises. Moreover, participants will receive a custom kid-sized Sesame Street yoga mat to continue their practice back home. They will also receive a 5×7 photo as a keepsake.

Schedules vary across the three Beaches Resorts – Beaches Turks and Caicos, Beaches Negril and Beaches Ocho Rios. However, classes are held twice a week. Moreover, families can book yoga sessions online as an add-on, or at the resorts’ Sesame Street Kids Camps.

In a press release, Heather Effs, Corporate Manager of Entertainment Operations for Sandals Resorts International said:

We know that family vacations are a cherished time for memory making – an opportunity to disconnect from everyday routines to prioritize togetherness, discovery, new cultures, and experiences – with some studies even showing how vacations lead to closer family relationships.

Together with Sesame Workshop, we are proud to introduce a fun and emotionally nurturing experience for kids and parents to discover together, inspiring memories and mindfulness alike.

These programs not only build on our shared core values and commitment to families around the world; they also lead to cherished moments of togetherness that foster traditions. It’s incredibly fulfilling to create opportunities for families to connect over new experiences in the Caribbean with valuable takeaways to enjoy thereafter.
