Sailing the Mediterranean just got even better, after Explora Journeys revealed its Destination Experiences for 2024. Moreover, the luxury lifestyle brand of MSC Group is expanding its offerings before the inaugural Mediterranean season of Explora I and Explora II launches. 2024 Mediterranean Destination Experiences from Explora Journeys

Ahead of Explora Journeys’ inaugural 2024 Mediterranean season of Explore I and Explora II, the luxury lifestyle brand of MSC Group has launched a new collection of Destination Experiences in the region. The cruise line’s offerings take guests on a historic and cultural journey while sailing the Mediterranean Sea. Making the announcement, Koray Savas, VP Hotel at Explora Journeys said:

Embarking on our newest Mediterranean journeys, travelers have the chance to immerse themselves in a tapestry of rich history and vibrant cultures.  From the sun-kissed shores of Italy to hidden gems in Greece, each experience is meticulously curated to unveil the essence of the Mediterranean spirit.

“Our team has carefully crafted experiences in each destination that will enrich our guests and make each journey truly memorable. Experiences are tailored to intimate groups of 2–25 guests, with time to experience off-the-beaten-path encounters at a slower pace. Our aim is to provide guests with unforgettable moments, deepening their connection with these timeless destinations,” Savas added.

Curated Destination Experiences

Guests sailing on Explora I and Explora II can enjoy the following Destination Experiences:

Brindisi, Italy: Trulli of Alberobello and Gleaming Ostuni

On this experience, guests will head to Alberobello in Italy where they will visit the iconic traditional dry-stone huts with the corbelled roof, dubbed as Trulli. Next, travelers will enjoy a taste of the local gelato before exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Site and having lunch at a Trullo restaurant. Guests will then enjoy a picturesque 45-minute drive to Ostuni, the ancient “white city” overlooking the Adriatic Sea. There a guided tour is available before guests return to Brindisi.

Livorno, Italy: Lucca by Bike and Picnic on the Ramparts​

Staying in Italy, guests can enjoy a pleasant bike ride through the city, while surrounded by medieval charm within the ancient city wall. Among the highlights of this Destination Experience, guests will visit landmarks such as the oval Piazza dell’ Anfiteatro and the Romanesque Cathedral of San Martino. This is followed by a delicious Tuscan-flavored picnic on the city walls before exploring local shops, boutiques and cafés.

Málaga, Spain: Secrets of Granada

Spain also features much history and culture and guests will explore the hidden gems of Granada. They will explore the freethinking barrio culture of Albaicin, the Roma community of Sacromonte and more. Strolling through the winding, cobblestoned alleys, guests will also sample delicious local food and drink. They will further be able to immerse themselves in the culture, history and vibrancy of this emblematic Spanish city, an unforgettable experience for all.

Casablanca, Morocco: Invigorating Hammam and Lunch at a Historic Palace

Across the pond from Spain, passengers will visit the magnificent Hassan II Mosque and experience a traditional Hammam with clay from the Atlas Mountains. Moreover, a lavish lunch will be served at a historic palace in the heart of Casablanca’s Medina, sampling Moroccan cuisine in the beautiful and ornate surroundings.

Mykonos, Greece: Vineyards and Villages of Mykonos

Heading to Mykonos in Greece, guests will experience a different side of the island while exploring a family-owned organic vineyard. Next, they will learn about biodynamic winemaking while sampling a selection of wines paired with delicious local delicacies. Through doing so, they will immerse themselves in the history, culture and flavors of Greece.

Rovinj, Croatia: Truffle Hunting in Istria

Heading to Croatia, guests will join an old Istrian family of truffle harvesters, while experiencing a truffle hunt in their private forest, accompanied by specially trained dogs. Moreover, they will get to sample the artisanal truffle products while exploring the medieval town of Motovun. Here, they will experience the beautiful, panoramic views of the Mirna River valley.

When are the Destination Experiences available?

People can already book these Destination Experiences, with Explora I sailing the Mediterranean from June to early December 2024. Meanwhile, Explora II will sail on her maiden journey from Barcelona to Civitavecchia in Rome on August 11, 2024. The vessel will remain in the Mediterranean until November, before sailing to the Caribbean.
