AmaWaterways launches vegan and plant-based menu items
While many people are turning away from meat and seeking vegan and vegetarian dishes, it isn’t always easy for them. Even in a world where people openly decry the killing of animals for their meals, restaurants don’t always have any suitable items on their menus. It is equally difficult to access vegan and plant-based food on cruises, but AmaWaterways is changing that.
Based in Calabasas, California, AmaWaterways is a river cruise company offering its guests cruises in Europe, Egypt, Southern Africa, South America and Southeast Asia. Known as a luxurious river cruise option, the cruise line had a fleet of 26 ships as of 2022.Speaking of AmaWaterway’s new menu offerings, the river cruise company’s Co-Founder and Executive Vice President Kristin Karst says she is a passionate believer that “plant-based meals are the future.” The new menu offerings will offer guests a visually beautiful and palate-pleasing culinary experience.
About the new, enhanced menu
Sailing through some of the most stunning scenery on the most beautiful rivers in the world, AmaWaterway’s new menu is now offered at the Main Restaurant. This new menu option is available across the river cruise line’s fleet of luxury ships. Moreover, variations are also possible on each river cruise ship. The new options are conveniently included on a separate menu to aid in choosing a meal.Among the highlights, vegan and vegetarian guests can enjoy appetizers such as oven-roasted eggplant bruschetta with herbs, garlic chickpeas bruschetta with a touch of balsamic vinegar. For main courses, guests will sit down to enjoy delicious entrees, including slow-braised vegetable stew. The delicious stew is crafted from Portobello mushrooms, cauliflower and carrots. Another menu option to enjoy is grilled cauliflower and sweet potato, enhanced with cherry tomatoes, broccoli and beans as lemon salsa verde.
A good meal always includes a delicious dessert and AmaWaterways’ Main Restaurant will serve favorites like nut-crusted pumpkin mousse, infused with dates. Another light and refreshing dessert is the cruise line’s homemade fruit sorbet. According to Vegan On The Map, other lunch menu items include marinated lentil salad, followed by stuffed eggplant rolls served with spicy bulgur vegetables.Meanwhile, AmaWaterways continues its commitment to culinary excellence on each cruise ship. The cruise line stays attuned to emerging trends and the preferences of its discerning guests. Due to this, the company is the only river cruise line to be inducted into the La Chaine des Rotisseurs International Association of Gastronomy.
