For true family fun away from the crowds, take the kids to Branson, Missouri. Depending on how small they are, you can go hiking in Table Rock State Park or kayaking the day away on Lake Taneycomo. Alternatively, head to Top of the Rock Ozarks Heritage Preserve, which stands on a bluff overlooking Table Rock Lane and the Ozark Mountains. Here, the family can explore a nature trail, a natural history museum and a Civil War-era cabin. Meanwhile, Silver Dollar City is a major draw with its attractions, rides, shows and great dining.

Take the kids to Destin, FL

With its beautiful white sand beaches and calm shorelines, Destin in Florida is full of family fun during the fall. At this time of year, the beaches and attractions of the city are less crowded and there is so much to do. Take them to the beach at Crystal Beach Park or Henderson Beach State Park for fun on the sand and surf. Moreover, Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park is calling out to the children with its cute penguins and friendly dolphins. Alternatively, take the family to Big Kahuna’s for water fun, where parents can try out the more extreme slides and the little ones can enjoy their own section of the park. Meanwhile, taking a boat tour is a definite must, including pirate-themed cruises, dolphin-spotting, and glass-bottom boats to gaze at the marine life below.

Visit Gatlinburg, TN with the kids

The city of Gatlinburg in eastern Tennessee lies close to the Great Smoky Mountains Park and is a fun choice for families. Besides exploring the national park, enjoy a visit to the Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies to let the kids visit the marine animals. Alternatively, hop onboard the Ober Gatlinburg Aerial Tramway to reach the amusement park of the same name. Naturally, you will get to enjoy spectacular fall foliage along the way. Make sure to also visit Pigeon Forge next door to Gatlinburg, to see the amazing believe-it-or-not attractions.

Orlando, FL for a family vacation

Naturally, Orlando, Florida is a no-brainer when it comes to a family vacation, with the 43-sq-mi Disney World. Here, the whole family can enjoy four theme parks, including Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom.  Moreover, Orlando also features two fun water parks to experience. For the not-quite-so-tiny pre-school kids, head to Universal Orlando Resort with major attractions like the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. While there are 36 hotels to choose from, try something different in the fall this year, staying at The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. The cabins are set in the woods and surrounded by trees and nature and can comfortably sleep a family of six. While you are unlikely to see fall foliage here, the weather is cooler than summer making fall a definite must.

Have fun with your pre-school children this year enjoying a family vacation in the fall in one of these fun-filled locations.
