Bogatell Beach, Barcelona
While most travelers think Barceloneta Beach is the place to be in Barcelona, the locals know better and choose Bogatell as their beach destination. For one thing, it is less crowded than the famous spots, so it is also cleaner and the perfect place for some relaxation in the sun. The only drawback is that while Barceloneta is a 20-minute stroll from La Rambla, it will take 15 minutes more to walk to Bogatell. Once there, visitors will find all the important facilities plus clean Mediterranean water and sand to enjoy without all the crowds.Playa de Los Atunes, Cádiz
Heading down to Cádiz on the Costa de la Luz, Playa de Los Atunes is lapped by the crystal-clear waves of the Atlantic Ocean. Whether wishing to relax and soak up the rays or in the mood for some water sports, this white-sand beach is a great choice. It is one of the best beaches for surfing, kitesurfing and windsurfing. Once the sun goes down, enjoy the local gastronomy, including the freshest catch of the day at one of the many restaurants close by.El Playazo, Cabo de Gata Nature Reserve, Almeria
For those travelers seeking an unspoiled and wild spot, Cabo de Gata is located on the Costa de Almeria and is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. This beautiful landscape mixes jagged cliffs, rocky coves and clean white-sand beaches. Meanwhile, Cabo de Gata is popular with eco-minded travelers and offers a variety of activities. Here, you can relax on the sand, go birdwatching, dive or snorkel, or head out on boat trips. Moreover, Playazo is close to the small village of Rodalquilar with all the requisite restaurants and bars.Ses Salines, Ibiza, Balearic Islands
For something completely different, we now look at a beautiful beach on the island of Ibiza. This wide stretch of sand is the place to go if you want to see and be seen. Here, beach bars play the latest Ibiza chill or techno, while serving ice-cold cocktails. However, for bird watchers and nature lovers, the Ses Salines Natural Park is right there to get away from the crowds.La Cala de Mijas, Costa del Sol, Spain
When thinking of the Costa del Sol, normally travelers would imagine Malaga City, Fuengirola or glitzy Marbella. However, what was once the small fishing village of La Cala de Mijas now features a famous Boardwalk with almost endless sand. Here, you can stroll along the Boardwalk for 6 km (3.7 mi) from La Cala all the way to Cabopino near Marbella. Plans are also afoot (excuse the pun) to lengthen the Boardwalk heading back towards Fuengirola. Along the way, spend time on Blue Flag beaches, or relax at a “chiringuito” (beach restaurant or bar) dining on the freshest seafood, washed down with cocktails, beer, or wine. Heading into town, La Cala is also a foodie paradise with an amazing array of restaurants serving Spanish, Italian, Thai, Chinese and other cuisines.Spend summer in Spain this year, visiting the listed beaches and so many more.
