February has only just begun, but Americans are already planning their Valentine’s Day romantic adventure. While it might be chilly at home, romantic travelers are seeking sunny and warm destinations. According to Allianz Partners, America’s 2025 Top Valentine’s Day Destinations report, romantic getaways are seeing a significant spike, with bookings already up by an astonishing 42 percent compared with 2024.

Valentine’s Day travelers seek sunny and warm destinations

While love is in the air, where are romantic travelers planning to head for a sunny and warm Valentine’s Day? Top travel insurance provider Allianz Partners analyzed more than 1.6 million itineraries for roundtrip flights departing from US airports between February 7 and February 13, and returning between February 14 to February 18, 2025.

The study revealed that 77 percent of travelers are staying within the US, while 23 percent are venturing abroad. Their findings also distinctly pointed to the most popular spots for a romantic escape this year. Read on to learn more about travelers’ choices for a warm destination with their Valentine’s Day special someone.

After coming in fourth in last year’s report, Phoenix, Arizona is now the number one destination for Valentine’s Day 2025. Coming in second place is Orlando, Florida, while the Nevada city of Las Vegas came third.

Moreover, other top choices for a warm Valentine’s include Miami, New York City, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale, Honolulu and Seattle. Ranging from sunny beaches to lively cityscapes, these destinations are proving to offer the perfect romantic escape.

For those romantic couples venturing beyond US borders, Mexico continues to be a top international getaway. Moreover, the country claims the top three spots on the international list with Cancún, San José del Cabo and Puerto Vallarta leading the way.  Meanwhile, disclaimer, not all of these destinations feature a warm and sunny climate, but do have a warm welcome for romantics.
